THOSE MAGNIFICENT GALS AND THEIR SEWING MACHINES

DONNA KOHLER

Chris and I watched an interesting episode of Simply Quilts this evening. It featured Donna Kohler and her treadle sewing machines. All of her quilts that she had brought in to the show were made on treadles. Here she shows a little of what can be done.
....and Here is her story....
and Here and Here are her websites!

I also thought you might enjoy looking at these.....

My mother has a wonderful old White treadle sewing machine. In fact, that is what I learned to sew on, as my mother viewed it as ~safer~ that her electric one. The lovely thing about treadle machines is that because of their slightly eratic stitching, they tend to give things a very "handstitched" look, but with the speed of a machine! Plus, even when the power is out, you can still sew!! ;-D
