Girl's Own Annual Vol XLIV

Vintage Girl's Own Annual
edited by Flora Klickmann.

At the beginning of the year I showed you a
large vintage volume of a Girl's Own Annual.
I have been fortunate to find another this time
Volume XLIV. These Annuals are not dated but
they are from the early 20th Century.

I have chosen these two pages showing what
to do with scraps of ribbon and silk, projects
that I thought might interest you.

These delightful illustrations below are just some that
can be found in the Annuals.

Day and night-time wear for young girls.

Marian, these are just gorgeous, but my heart is breaking. My Mum kept all her childhood books and passed them on to me, including some of these Girls Own Annuals. I adored them when I was growing up, and looked after them just as carefully as Mum had, but...you know what happens as you get older. You start discarding things that you no longer have room for, albeit reluctantly. I could KICK MYSELF VERY HARD for getting rid of those books!

Oh Gina, my heart is breaking too!
But it is just one of those things I guess - you have more willpower than me - I was born a collector, will always be a collector, and so I have to live with the clutter!

I have this book and love it! Great to discover someone else who likes to collect Girls Own...such a fascinating peek into the lives of early 20th C women.

You have a lovely blog!
